Kira's Mini Survivor guide

Guide Kira across a night rooftop and survive a shadow horde closing in from every side until the clock runs out. Attacks are fully automatic, so your job is movement, positioning and the card you pick at each level-up to shape your weapon build. Eight stages run from 75 seconds on stage 1 to 165 seconds on stage 8, and from stage 3 the Night Tyrant boss arrives for the final 35 seconds.

How to play

  1. Pick a stage; the clock starts the moment you first move. Press anywhere and drag to run in that direction, faster the further you drag. Keyboard: arrows or WASD; gamepad: left stick.
  2. Kira starts with Star Bolt, which fires at the nearest foe, and every weapon fires on its own.
  3. Collect the crystals that fallen foes leave behind to gain experience. On a level-up time stops and you pick one of three cards (keys 1, 2, 3, or left/right and A on a gamepad); once per run you may reroll with R (X on a gamepad).
  4. The cards are four weapons (Star Bolt, Orbit Petals, Moon Burst, Chain Lightning) and four boosts (Swift Feet, Starlight Vigor, Crystal Magnet, Might Charm), each upgradable to level 5.
  5. Survive the remaining time before your health hits zero to clear the stage. Clearing unlocks the next stage, and clearing stage 3 opens the daily rooftop, a 120-second run that changes every day.

Strategy tips

  • Each foe needs a different dodge. Bats arrive fast in threes, dashers pause and then charge in a straight line, so sidestep as they stop. Brutes are slow but hit hard, and casters keep their distance and throw orbs.
  • Getting pinned against a wall or corner leaves no way out. Circle widely around the middle of the roof to drag the crowd behind you.
  • Star Bolt only targets the nearest foe, which is weak when you are surrounded. Pick up Orbit Petals (one more petal per level) or Moon Burst, which pushes nearby foes away, early on for close-range defence.
  • Starlight Vigor instantly adds 20 max health and restores 30, then keeps regenerating slowly. Finishing above half health earns an extra star, so it is especially useful on hard stages.
  • The Night Tyrant alternates between a ring of orbs and summoning shades, and below a third of its health it does both, more often. When the orbs spread, slip out through a gap in the ring.

Common questions

How are stars awarded?

Surviving the clock gives one star, and finishing with at least half your max health adds another. The last star needs the Night Tyrant defeated on boss stages, or at least 60 kills on stage 1 and 72 on stage 2, which have no boss.

Do I fail if the boss survives?

No. If you outlast the clock the stage is cleared even with the boss alive, but you miss the third star and the 500 points for defeating it.

How is the score calculated?

Shades and bats are worth 10, dashers and casters 20, brutes 40 and the Night Tyrant 500. Clearing a stage adds 5 per remaining health point and 50 per level reached.

Do enemies keep moving while I choose a card?

No, time stops completely while you choose. Once every card is at its maximum level, a level-up restores 20 health instead of offering cards.
