Sora's Sky Jumper guide

Climber Sora bounces automatically the moment she lands on a platform, and all you do is steer left and right to reach the target height. There are three stages, Canopy at 1,200 m, Stratos at 2,200 m and Orbit at 3,400 m, and a chasing cloud below means you can never linger at one height for long. Moving platforms, springs, cracked platforms, wind and thunder puffs are introduced one at a time.

How to play

  1. Pick a stage and Sora waits on the first platform. The climb begins the first time you steer left or right.
  2. Hold the left or right button, or press and hold the left or right half of the playfield, to move that way. Arrow keys, A/D, a gamepad D-pad or stick also work, and Start pauses.
  3. The side edges wrap, so leaving the right edge brings you back on the left. Go whichever way reaches the next platform sooner.
  4. The cloud chase clock is 25 seconds. Raise your best height by another 100 m within that time to refill it, or the cloud catches you. Dropping almost a full screen below your best height also ends the run.
  5. Drop onto a thunder puff from above to clear it and bounce again, but touching one from the side or below costs a heart. Lose all three hearts and the climb ends.
  6. Reach the target height to clear the stage and unlock the next one. Clearing Stratos opens Orbit together with Endless Sky, a climb with no summit.

Strategy tips

  • Dotted clouds cannot hold you and you fall straight through them. Only count solid platforms as landing spots.
  • Cracked platforms crumble after one landing, but the platforms above and below one are always within a single bounce. When one breaks, aim straight for the next one up.
  • Spring pads launch you much higher than a normal bounce. They are ideal for grabbing a quick 100 m when the chase clock is running low.
  • In Stratos a rightward wind picks up from about 200 m, and in Orbit its direction changes with altitude. Watch the wind arrow and press gently against it.
  • Each thunder puff you stomp is worth 50 points and each star 20. Clearing adds 250 points plus a speed bonus of up to 300 that grows the faster you climb.

Common questions

How is the star rating earned?

Clearing gives one star, keeping all three hearts gives another, and collecting the stage's star goal (4 in Canopy, 6 in Stratos, 8 in Orbit) gives a third. If you do not clear, the result shows whether the cloud, the thunder puffs or a fall ended the climb, with a tip for the next attempt instead of stars.

Can I just keep bouncing on the same platform?

Height points only count your best height once, and if you do not climb a new 100 m within 25 seconds the chasing cloud ends the climb. You always have to keep moving upward.

What is different in Endless Sky?

There is no summit, and the higher you go the more moving platforms, cracked platforms, dotted clouds and thunder puffs appear. You earn a star at 1,000 m, 2,500 m and 4,000 m.

How are new platform types introduced?

In Canopy, moving, spring and cracked platforms appear one after another as you climb, and a short tip shows once the first time each comes into view. Thunder puffs first appear in Stratos.
