브릭 브레이커 guide

A classic brick breaker: bounce the ball off your paddle and smash every brick at the top of the screen. The angle the ball leaves at depends on where it meets the paddle, and every cleared layout makes the ball faster and the paddle shorter. With reactor operator Inga explaining the rebound angles, you work through ten brick layouts on three lives.

How to play

  1. Press start to open level 1 with the ball resting on the paddle. Drag sideways across the field and the paddle follows your finger.
  2. Tap the field, press the launch button or press Space to send the ball off. It leaves up and to the right if the paddle is on the left half of the screen, and up and to the left if it is on the right half.
  3. Bricks take one, two or three hits depending on colour and fade with each hit. Every hit scores 10 × the brick's strength before the hit.
  4. Missing the ball costs a life and puts a new ball on the paddle. Lose all three lives and the run ends.
  5. Clear every brick for a bonus of 100 × the level number, and the next layout opens a moment later. Your score and remaining lives carry over, and clearing level 10 completes the run.

Strategy tips

  • Catch the ball on the centre of the paddle and it rises almost straight up; the closer to an edge, the more it angles that way, up to 60 degrees. If the remaining bricks sit on the right, take the ball on the paddle's right end.
  • A three-hit brick pays 30, 20 and 10 points, 60 in total. Layouts with many tough bricks build your score quickly.
  • Open a hole in the brick rows and send the ball through it: above the bricks it bounces between the ceiling and the rows, breaking several in a row.
  • The paddle shrinks a little each level and reaches its shortest length at level 9. Save as many lives as you can in the early levels.
  • On a keyboard, move with ←→ or A·D and launch with Space, ↑ or Enter. On a gamepad, use the D-pad and A, and Start to pause.

Common questions

What happens after level 10?

Breaking the last brick of level 10 brings up the run-complete screen, where you can check your final score and best record or share the result. Restart begins a fresh run from level 1.

Can the ball get stuck bouncing sideways forever?

No. Every bounce off the paddle is corrected to keep a minimum upward angle, so the ball never settles into a near-horizontal loop.

Is each level always the same layout?

Yes. Every level number has a fixed brick layout, so practice pays off. Starting a new game always begins again at level 1.

Can I continue after stopping midway?

Pausing or hiding the tab saves the current field, and reopening the game restores that last good field so you can carry on.
