하나비의 에어 하키 guide

Play as Hanabi, moving your mallet around the bottom half of a tall table to strike the puck, and beat rival Luka at the top to seven goals. The puck bounces off the side rails, slows gradually with friction, and flies harder the faster you swing into it. There are three levels, Rookie, Pro and Legend, and at each step Luka reacts faster and covers more of the goal mouth.

How to play

  1. Start at Rookie from the level list. Winning a match unlocks the next level, whose match starts automatically a moment later.
  2. Drag on the screen and the mallet follows your finger. Holding the arrow keys, WASD or the on-screen direction buttons also moves it; on a gamepad use the stick or D-pad, and Start to pause.
  3. Your mallet stays in the bottom half of the table. When it strikes the puck, the mallet's own direction and speed are added to the rebound.
  4. A goal counts once the puck fully crosses into the top goal mouth. The puck is then served to the side that conceded.
  5. First to seven goals wins; if Luka gets seven first, you lose. A puck that nearly stops for over 2.5 seconds, or 20 seconds without a goal, triggers a fresh serve so matches never drag.

Strategy tips

  • A puck hitting a still mallet only bounces back a little slower than it arrived. Push the mallet forward quickly as the puck arrives so your mallet's speed is added to the shot.
  • Luka predicts where your shot will arrive and guards in front of the goal, but at lower levels he follows less of the sideways offset. Aim for the corners of the goal or bank the puck off a side rail.
  • Luka strikes down on any puck lingering in his half. If your shot is blocked and the puck stays up top, get back in front of your goal right away.
  • On Legend, Luka retargets after just 0.1 seconds. Rather than blasting every shot, control the puck and send it the other way the moment his mallet commits to one side.
  • A win loses 2 points for every second the match lasts. Guard your goal and shoot as soon as you see an opening to finish quickly.

Common questions

How are score and stars decided?

A win scores 1,000 minus 80 per goal conceded and 2 per second of play, with a minimum of 300. Conceding two goals or fewer earns three stars, four or fewer two stars, and more than that one star. A loss scores 20 per goal you scored.

What changes between the three levels?

Luka's mallet speed, reaction time and how far he covers sideways in front of the goal. His reaction delay is 0.42 s on Rookie, 0.24 s on Pro and 0.10 s on Legend, where he reaches almost every corner.

What if the puck gets stuck?

If the puck barely moves for more than 2.5 seconds, or 20 seconds pass without a goal, both mallets return to their starting spots and the puck is served again. The score does not change.

What happens if I close the game mid-match?

The score and the puck and mallet positions are saved, so the same match comes back paused when you return. Best scores per level and unlocked levels are kept as well.
