Isol's Paper Territory guide

The yellow paper is Isol's land: leave it to draw a scissor line, come back, and every cell the line and your land enclose becomes yours. Rival friends grow their land the same way and go after your line, and any rival land inside your loop becomes yours too. Claim the target share of the whole board before time runs out to clear a stage; nothing, not even the clock, moves until you pick your first direction.

How to play

  1. Pick an unlocked stage. Only the first is open at the start, and each clear opens the next.
  2. Swipe the board, press the on-screen direction buttons, or use the arrow keys, WASD, or a gamepad D-pad or stick. Isol keeps moving at seven cells per second, and a new direction takes effect at the next cell.
  3. Outside your land, the cells you pass leave a dashed scissor line. The moment you re-enter your land, everything the land and line enclose turns into your paper.
  4. While drawing a line you cannot reverse, and touching the edge of the board stops you until you turn. Stepping on your own line, or a rival stepping on it, costs a heart and sends you home to wait for a new direction.
  5. Step on a rival's line to cut it and send that rival out briefly. Clear by pushing your share past the target; run out of time or lose all three hearts and the stage is lost. P, Esc or gamepad Start pauses.

Strategy tips

  • Stars equal the hearts you have left when you clear. Keeping all three earns ★★★, so when a rival comes close, stop stretching your line and turn for home.
  • Rivals head for your line when it is near and their own trail is short. Close to a rival, claim land in small rectangles rather than one big loop.
  • Score is 100 per 1% of the board you own and 20 for each claiming return; a clear adds 5 per second left and 100 per heart left, so faster clears score more.
  • Loop around rival land to take those cells as well. Rivals can do the same to you, so if your share drops, enclose that area again to win it back.
  • If you and a rival land on the same cell while both of you are drawing lines, both lines are cut. Sidestep a rival coming straight at you.

Common questions

What changes from stage to stage?

Across the eight stages the board grows from 20×20 to 28×28, rivals increase from one to four and get bolder, the target rises from 25% to 35%, and the clock goes from 90 to 120 seconds. The final stage, Paper crown, asks for 35% of a 28×28 board against four rivals within 120 seconds.

Do I lose my land when my line is cut?

No. Only the line you were drawing disappears; land you already claimed stays. You lose a heart and wait at home until you choose a new direction.

When does the daily craft open?

After you clear stage 3. It is a 24×24 board with three rivals where you need 30% within 105 seconds; it starts the same way all day by Korean date, and the day's best is recorded.

Do rivals move the same way when I replay a stage?

Regular stages pick new rival routes every time you start. Only the daily craft starts with the same moves for the whole day.
