Aria's Tetro Blocks guide

A classic falling-block puzzle where you move and rotate seven kinds of pieces in a well 10 cells wide and 20 tall to fill and clear rows. There are no stages: one run lasts until the stack reaches the top, and every 10 lines cleared raises the level and the fall speed. A three-piece preview, a hold slot, a ghost showing where the piece will land and a half-second grace period after touchdown let you stack with a plan.

How to play

  1. Press Play and the first piece falls. Use the three-piece preview on the right, the hold slot on the left and the outlined ghost to choose where it goes.
  2. On a phone, drag the well sideways to move one cell at a time, tap to rotate and swipe down quickly to drop instantly. The buttons below (Left, Right, Turn, Back, Soft, Drop, Hold) work too.
  3. On a keyboard use ←→ to move, ↑ or X to rotate, Z to rotate back, ↓ for a soft drop, Space for a hard drop and C or Shift to hold. On a gamepad use the D-pad to move, A and B to rotate, X to hold, ↑ to hard drop and Start to pause.
  4. Fill a row with no gaps to clear it. One line scores 100, two 300, three 500 and four (a Tetro) 800, multiplied by the current level.
  5. The run ends when a new piece has no room to enter. Check your score, lines, level and best on the result screen, then share it.

Strategy tips

  • The seven pieces come in shuffled sets of seven, so any piece returns within 13 pieces at most. Leave a one-cell-wide column open and fill it with the long I piece to clear four lines for the biggest single score.
  • Clearing lines on consecutive pieces adds a combo bonus of 50 × combo count × level from the second clear on. Any piece that clears nothing breaks the chain.
  • A hard drop scores 2 per cell fallen and a soft drop 1. When the spot is certain, hard drop to save time and gain points.
  • After touchdown you still have half a second to move or rotate, and each move restarts that window, up to 15 times. Rotation works even against a wall, so practise twisting pieces into gaps.
  • Hold works once per piece. Park an I piece that does not fit yet and bring it out when your four-line slot is ready.

Common questions

How much faster does each level get?

At level 1 a piece falls one row every 0.8 seconds, each level is about 18% faster, and from level 15 the speed stays at one row every 0.06 seconds. The level rises by one for every 10 lines cleared.

Can I continue after leaving?

Yes. The well is saved continuously, the game pauses when you leave, and on return it continues from the last good state of the well and score. The upcoming piece order continues unchanged.

Does a restart give the same piece order?

No. Each restart moves to a new run number with a new piece order. Within a run the order is fixed, so continuing a saved run never changes the next pieces.

When is my best score saved?

Your score is compared with your best and saved whenever you clear lines and when the run ends. The result screen shows this run's score, lines and level alongside your best.
