마린의 배틀십 guide

Command the fleet with Captain Marin in a game of Battleship. Arrange your five ships (5, 4, 3, 3 and 2 cells) on a 10×10 sea, then trade single shots with the opponent and sink the hidden enemy fleet first. The opposing gunner comes in Easy, Normal and Hard, each searching the sea more cleverly than the last.

How to play

  1. Press Play to open the deployment screen. Press a ship to pick it and an empty cell to move its bow there; press the picked ship again or the Rotate button (R) to turn it.
  2. On a keyboard, the arrow keys nudge the picked ship one cell and N picks the next ship. If you would rather not arrange by hand, press Random layout, and press Sail (Enter) when ready.
  3. Press a cell in the upper enemy sea to fire at once. You can also aim with the direction buttons or arrow keys and fire with the Fire button, Enter or Space; on a gamepad, aim with the D-pad and fire with A.
  4. Shots are marked as a miss (dot), hit (X) or sunk (star), and shortly after you fire the opponent shoots once into your sea below. A cell can only be fired at once.
  5. Sink all five enemy ships first to win; lose all of yours first and you lose. A win unlocks the next opponent level.

Strategy tips

  • The smallest ship is two cells long, so firing on a checkerboard pattern is guaranteed to touch every ship. Once the enemy fleet chart shows the two-cell ship sunk, you can space your search shots even wider.
  • After a hit, probe the four neighbours to find the direction, and once two hits line up, follow that line to both ends. Until the sunk marker appears, that ship is still afloat.
  • Ships may touch each other. The Hard gunner fires first where the most placements of the remaining ships overlap, so ships tucked along edges and corners, where fewer placements fit, tend to be found later.
  • Score is 100 per surviving ship of yours, 10 per hit, up to 300 for accuracy and 500 for a win. Every speculative miss lowers the accuracy share.

Common questions

How do the opponent levels differ?

Easy fires anywhere and then around a hit. Normal searches alternating cells and follows the line after a hit. Hard counts every place the remaining ships could still be and fires at the most likely cell.

Do I get another shot after a hit?

No. Shots alternate one at a time regardless of the result. After you fire, the Fire button reads Opponent's turn until the reply lands.

Can I continue if I leave mid-game?

Your layout is not saved before you sail. After sailing, both seas are saved on this device after every shot, so reopening the game resumes the same turn, paused.

Does a restart replay the same enemy fleet?

No. A restart places a new enemy fleet and gives you a fresh layout of your own to adjust.
