Lulu's Word Five guide

A word puzzle where you deduce a five-letter English word in six tries. Every letter you enter is marked ✓ green (right letter, right place), ● yellow (in the word, elsewhere) or grey (not in the word), and you narrow the candidates from those clues. Win or lose, the game ends by showing the answer's Korean meaning, so it doubles as vocabulary practice; answers come from 392 everyday words such as APPLE and OCEAN.

How to play

  1. Press Play to open the daily word. For Practice or Hard practice, pick the mode from Choose stage.
  2. Type five letters with the on-screen alphabet keys or your keyboard, then press Enter. ⌫ or Backspace removes one letter at a time.
  3. Read the colour and mark of each tile. The alphabet keys below also show what you have learned about each letter in the same colours.
  4. If you are stuck, press Meaning hint to see the answer's Korean meaning early. It costs one star.
  5. Solve it within six rows. Three tries or fewer earns ★★★, five or fewer ★★, the sixth ★; the score is 100 per star plus 20 for every unused try.
  6. On the result screen, check the answer and its meaning, then share your result as a grid of coloured squares.

Strategy tips

  • Open with a word that mixes different vowels and common consonants to rule out grey letters quickly. Avoid reusing letters whose keys have turned grey.
  • Yellow means 'anywhere but here'. On the next row, move the yellow letter to a different slot to pin down its position.
  • Some answers repeat a letter, such as GRASS and SHEEP. If a letter you used once turned green but no candidate fits, suspect that it appears twice.
  • The meaning hint never drops you below one star. If you have missed five rows, a hint on the last try costs nothing in stars or score, so use it.

Common questions

Can I play the daily word again?

There is one daily word per Korean calendar day, the same for everyone. If you have already solved it, choosing it again shows that day's result, and a new word arrives the next day. Practice has no limit if you want to keep playing.

What changes in Hard practice?

Every clue you find must be reused. Green letters must stay in the same slot and every yellow letter must appear in the guess; if not, the game tells you which letter belongs in which position and refuses the guess.

How is the streak counted?

Only daily words count. Solving on consecutive days adds one, solving after a skipped day restarts at one, and failing in six tries resets it to zero. Practice results do not affect the streak or the win count.

Does 'Not in the word list' cost a try?

No. There are 392 possible answers, but more than 2,600 five-letter words are accepted as guesses, so check the spelling and try another word. An unfinished word is saved when you leave and continues when you return.
